Nissan Maxima – The 2011 Nissan Maxima is an entry level luxury vehicle, in the same class as the Infinity G37. The continual improvements have got the Maxima quite a few loyal followers and a sound reputation. The Nissan Maxima has won the ALG Best Full-size Car Award for three years running.
This mid-priced sports sedan comes equipped with a 3.5 liter 24 variable timing valves V6 engine, rated 290 hp at 6400 rpm, while the torque is at 261 lb-ft. when the engine is doing 4400 rpm. This engine is hooked up to a continuously variable-speed automatic transmission system in front wheel drive mode. The car’s fuel efficiency is rated by the EPA at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, which is decent for a car that is known to do 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The performance is amazing and owner feedback is quite positive. The Maxima includes a fantastic array of technology that makes life much easier.
The interior is impeccable and beautifully designed with lots of space. The interiors have rear bucket seats that are stylish. The Maxima is fitted with high quality materials and steering that is very precise. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, a steering wheel that is power adjustable, keyless entry, automated head lamps, an auto dimming rearview mirror, a trip computer, a power passenger seat that can be adjusted four different ways, single touch window mechanism, 9.3 GB of music storage, a 7” LCD color screen and a superior quality eight speaker Bose audio system. It also includes a voice activated navigational system that uses GPS and HID headlights, 17” wheels. The luxurious SL version includes a well-appointed wooden interior trim and heated leather seating.
The Maxima SV has the option of the Sport or the Premium packages that add features like xenon headlights, heated front seats, memory functions, gear shift paddles on the steering wheel, an auto dimming mirror on the driver’s side, fog lamps, lumbar support that is electrically operated and a heated steering wheel that is adjustable.
The Premium add just a little bit extra with a sunroof, a rearview camera, a ventilated driver’s seat, automated rear windows, an iPod jack, an electrical rear sunshade and wooden trim. The Sport package includes 19” wheels, dark chrome grille, a rear spoiler, smoked headlights, stitching accents on the interior, and a metallic trim.
The 2011 Nissan Maxima features a variety of safety and security features that come with the standard model and gives owners peace of mind. Some safety features include forward passenger airbags in the front, side airbags for the passengers in the front, curtain airbags for passengers in the back, ABS, automated stability control, and traction control. The 2011 Maxima received a ‘good’ score for front and side protection and got the second best rating where the roof strength test was concerned.
Overall, the Maxima boasts an extremely precise steering, an efficient V6 engine, interior of a high quality and excellent iPod integration. It does, however, have its downside and seems to be overpriced.
